On Wednesday morning five Latvian fishermen fell through sea ice in Parnu County, but they managed to get to the shore on their own, although it was not possible to save their equipment.

The Rescue Center received a call at around 9 a.m. about people having fallen through ice near Lindi village, spokespeople for the West prefecture said. According to the caller three-four people were seen falling through ice about 200 meters from the shore. Some time later it was specified that five Latvian fishermen had fallen through ice, but were able to get to the shore on their own, although it was not possible to save their equipment.

Rescuers of the Parnu police department talked to the fishermen on site and the men said that they do not need medical assistance. According to the men they were riding on a motorcycle with a trailer on the ice, and although they knew that the ice might not be very strong and tried to avoid the more unsafe areas, their motorcycle which weighed around 600 kilograms fell through ice.
