The Estonian government decided on Thursday to grant citizenship to 251 people and restore the citizenship of one person.

Of the people to be naturalized 221 are not citizens of any country, spokespeople for the government said. Another 24 will be naturalized on the condition that they are released from their previous citizenship. Of these people 18 are citizens of Russia, four of Ukraine and one of Moldova and Turkey each.

Besides the government endorsed a proposal of the Interior Ministry to grant Estonian citizenship to six people who are now citizens of Russia. Two of these cases are about a mother and child.

The government will also discuss restoring the Estonian citizenship of one person who lost it as a minor.
