The Estonian harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) was 145.01 points in September, 0.2 percent higher than in the same month a year ago but 0.1 percent lower than in August, Statistics Estonia said on Tuesday.

A decline of 20.1 percent year on year was registered in the education sector, prices of communication dropped 4.1 percent and prices in transport were down 3.3 percent. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose the most, 3.4 percent, followed by the health care sector with an increase of 3.2 percent.

In HICP calculation domestic approach is used, meaning that it takes into account all purchases made in Estonian territory. CPI meanwhile uses the national approach, measuring purchases made by the population of Estonia.
