The application to nominate Kersti Kaljulaid presidential candidate was signed by 90 members of the 101-seat Estonian parliament, spokespeople for the National Electoral Committee told BNS on Friday.

The application to nominate Kaljulaid was not signed by all seven MPs from the Estonian Conservative People's Party (EKRE) as well as by Center Party deputies Mihhail Korb, Heimar Lenk, Oudekki Loone and Rein Ratas.

An extraordinary sitting of the parliament to once again take a vote on the president of Estonia for the next five years will start at 1 p.m. on Monday.

Previously a full cycle of presidential election failed to yield a result as no candidate managed to garner the support of 68 MPs to get elected in parliament or 167 votes in the subsequent balloting round in an electoral body made up of all 101 MPs and 234 representatives of local governments.
