A 17-year-old boy sustained minor injuries after jumping out of a window on the upper floor of a two-story private home in Viimsi, a residential district adjacent to Tallinn, while playing Pokemon Go on Wednesday.

Spokespeople for the East-Harju police station said the youngster was taken to a hospital for a checkup. His injuries were deemed not serious.

In the words of the boy's mother the accident happened when the boy was playing Pokemon Go on his handheld device.

«No game, phone call, text message or piece of news ever is urgent or exciting enough to risk one's life or health,» spokespeople for the police said in a press release.

The launch of Pokemon Go earlier this month has proved an extraordinary commercial success and has doubled the market value of the brand's owner Nintendo on the Tokyo stock exchange. The Pokemon Go version of the game that was originally developed for Nintendo's Game Boy in the 1990s enables the gamer to locate, capture, train and battle virtual «Pokemons» inserted into their real environments.
