Number of fire deaths jumps by 7 to 54

In all 54 people lost their lives in fires in Estonia during 2014, seven more than in the year before, tentative figures available from the Rescue Board show.

Whereas until the end of November the number of fire deaths remained below 40, as many as 15 people were killed as a result of fires in Estonia during December.

Of the 47 people killed in fires in 2013, 35 were killed in the first 11 months of the year and 12 in December.
