According to Statistics Estonia, 335,000 tourists or 6% more than in the same month of the previous year stayed in accommodation establishments in June. The number of both domestic and foreign tourists increased.

In June, 224,000 foreign tourists or 5% more than in June of the previous year stayed in accommodation establishments. More than half of the foreign tourists arrived from the neighbouring countries Finland, Russia and Latvia. 10% more tourists from Russia and 5% more tourists from Finland stayed in accommodation establishments than in June of the previous year. The number of tourists from Latvia remained at the previous year’s level. Compared to June 2013, there was an increase in the number of tourists from several European countries – Germany (13% more), the Lithuania (6% more), and the United Kingdom (4% more). However, the number of accommodated tourists from Sweden and Italy was smaller than in June last year. The number of tourists arriving from Asian countries continues to increase. Two-thirds of the foreign tourists who used the services of accommodation establishments stayed in the accommodation establishments of Tallinn. The second most popular destination was Pärnu city, accounting for 11% of all accommodated foreign tourists, followed by Tartu city, which accounted for 5% of the accommodated foreign tourists. 77% of the foreign tourists were on a holiday trip and 17% were on a business trip.
In June, 111,000 domestic tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which was over 6,000 domestic tourists more than in June of the previous year. 22% of the domestic tourists using the services of accommodation establishments stayed in Harju county, 14% in Pärnu county and 9% in Ida-Viru county. 65% of the domestic tourists were on a holiday trip and a fifth were on a business trip.
In June, 1,268 accommodation establishments offered services for tourists. 22,000 rooms and 52,000 beds were available for tourists. 82 accommodation establishments with 440 rooms and 2,131 beds were added compared to June of the previous year. The room occupancy rate was 49% and the bed occupancy rate was 40%. The average cost of a guest night was 34 euros, being one euro more expensive than in June 2013. The average cost of a guest night was higher than the state average in Tallinn and in Pärnu.
