The turnover of the stores in the Viru Center mall in downtown Tallinn grew 3.4 percent year-on-year to 59.8 million euros in the first half of 2013.

The number of visitors in the first six months totaled 7.3 million and the number of purchases made was 4.3 million, board member of Viru Center Ants Vasar told BNS.

In the second quarter approximately four million people visited the mall, purchases numbered 2.2 million and the turnover was 31.3million euros, Vasar said.

According to Vasar the year has been stable and in keeping with expectations.

"The forecasts for the last six months of the year are still conservatively optimistic with an estimated turnover growth of 4-5 percent. No significant changes are expected to take place in people's consumption habits in the short term but the decline in the consumer confidence index in June confirms that a continued rational consumer behavior is to be expected," Vasar added.
