Members of Estonian special forces to help train Ukrainian military
Some 20 members of the Estonian defense forces will take part in the project in training to be carried out in western Ukraine together with U.S. and other allied military personnel, military spokespeople in Tallinn told BNS on Thursday.
The members of the Estonian special forces will provide training to Ukrainian special forces personnel, airborne troops and members of the ground forces. The training will be conducted in the towns of Hmelnytskoi, Zhitomir, Desna and Javoriv in western Ukraine.
It is possible that military personnel also from other units of the defense forces of Estonia will take part in the training project in the future. The training project is planned to last from two to three years and Estonian personnel will be deployed to the project for rotations lasting from four to six months.
Estonia so far has provided training to Ukrainian military medics in courses held in both Estonia and Ukraine.
Estonia is set to provide 2.35 million euros' worth of humanitarian and development aid to Ukraine this year, double the amount provided last year.
