In the first half of 2015 forty forged euro notes on the average were withdrawn from circulation in each month, the Estonian central bank said.
Fake 50 euro, 20 euro and 100 euro notes made up the biggest part of the counterfeits, numbering 108, 57 and 38, respectively. Last year forged 100 euro notes slightly outnumbered 20 euro notes.
Across the eurozone, 20 euro and 50 euro banknotes account for 86 percent of detected counterfeits.
