Altogether 37,787 offenses were registered and 19,788, 52.4 percent of the former number, solved in 2014. The crime clearance rate was 52.6 percent in 2013, 53.2 percent in 2012 and 54.7 percent in 2011. In the years before that is was usually lower than 50 percent except for in 2008 when 52.3 percent of registered offenses were solved.
The number of offenses registered in Estonia during 2014 – 37,787 – marks a new low, the ministry said. Compared with 2013 the numbered of recorded offenses was smaller by 1,844.
