This past Saturday, hundreds gathered at Freedom Square, Tallinn, to remember journalists murdered at the French weekly Charlie Hebdo and stand in support of free expression.

By half past two, a couple of hundred people had convened at the foot of the Cross of Liberty, carrying the black «I am Charlie» signs. «This here is the message of freedom. We are here for we are not afraid. This is positive, in the sense of giving us courage to fight with pen and paper, to use our freedom of expression,» said Pierre Lesage, an organiser of the event. To honour the fallen, candles were lit at the square.
