The Estonian government on Thursday decided to allocate 8.4 million euros from the reserve for urgent and one-time national defense expenses.

The government decided to allocate 8,367,559 euros to finance urgent and one-time investments and purchases to guarantee broad-based national defense, spokespeople for the government said.

The sum will be divided between the areas of government of the Defense Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, and the Office of the President.

Spokespeople for the Defense Ministry told BNS that the sum meant for the ministry will cover the costs of the allies' stay in Estonia. According to a decision made by the government the additional costs concerning the allied presence in Estonia will not be covered from the defense budget but instead additional funds will be allocated for that.
