From the streets: Estonians expect Obama to be definite and decisive

People gathered to see Barack Obama drive by were of the opinion the visit is worth the while, and significant, considering the current situation – proving to Mr Putin that NATO article 5 stands sure.

Mauri, a Finn, thought the visit vital in this political atmosphete. According to him, Finland and Sweden should join NATO as well. «Putin is the greatest crook, he ought to be jailed,» thinks Mauri.

According to Anton, Mr Obama’s visit reveals Estonia’s good cooperation with NATO states and makes us feel protected.  

«I feel proud he managed to come, considering there are places more important in the world to visit...» noted Tõnis.

Adrian was sorry such visits tend to happen when thinks get tough. «But when people feel concerned and there’s the need to show confidence, it’s nice such leaders do come,» he said and added that Estonians expect Mr Obama to decide something, to be definite. Adrian never went to wave to Mr Obama, neither does he think this important. «What matters most is what he says and what he does. For him to come to present himself like a pop star, that’s not the goal of the visit,» said the man.
