The producer price index of industrial output continued to increase in May

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2014, the producer price index of industrial output changed by 0.7% compared to April 2014 and by –0.5% compared to May 2013.

In May, compared to the previous month, the producer price index was more than average influenced by an increase in prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and in the manufacture of food and wood products, but also by a decrease in prices in mining.

Compared to May 2013, the producer price index was more than average influenced by a decrease in prices in the manufacture of electronic equipment and fuel oils, but also by an increase in prices in the manufacture of food products.

In May 2014, the export price index changed by 0.2% compared to April 2014 and by –2.5 % compared to May 2013.

In May, compared to the previous month, the prices of electricity, peat and chemical products increased more than average, whereas the prices of metals, beverages and motor vehicles decreased more than average.

In May 2014, the import price index changed by 0.2% compared to April 2014 and by –1.4% compared to May 2013.

In May, compared to the previous month, the prices of electricity, oil products and wearing apparel increased more than average, whereas the prices of agricultural products and metals decreased more than average.
