It was unusually warm in Estonia, yesterday. Never before has it been so hot here in the month of May. Also, top temperatures standing for nearly 50 years were updated in quite a few spots in the land.

The warmth came by a tropical air mass, all the way from between the Black and Caspian Seas. 24 hour average beat the very Julys, as stated by Weather Service as at 5 pm, yesterday.

At Kunda weather station, the Estonian May heat record was fixed – maximum air temperature of 33.1 degrees Celsius.

Not many hit the Pärnu beaches, though. Had the waters been so empty of humans there, in July at 28o C, one might have thought a killer shark was around. But then: it’s not the vacation and school holiday time yet – so no wonder the absent thousands.
