Reform/SDE coalition treaty gets signatures

Today, in the White Hall if Toompea Castle, Reform Party and Social Democratic Party (SDE) coalition agreement was signed by chairmen of said parties, prime ministerial candidate Taavi Rõivas and Sven Mikser, respectively. 

At the ceremony, Mr Rõivas expressed his delight over the new coalition being criticised as ambitious.

The treaty got green light by Reform Party council this Tuesday, soc dems following suit last night.

On Monday, in all probability, Mr Rõivas will report before Riigikogu regarding basis for the government envisioned. Thereafter, via open vote without negotiations, the parliament will decide whether to grant the man powers to proceed with creating a cabinet.    

Having obtained the powers, Mr Rõivas has seven days to present President with list of ministers, the latter – within three days – nominating the government. The new government of Estonia will enter into office by taking an oath before Riigikogu; with that, powers of the new government enter into force, as these of outgoing government come to an end.

Thereafter, President of the Republic releases the previous government from office.
