According to Statistics Estonia, 148,000 foreign tourists and 80,000 domestic tourists used the services of accommodation establishments in October 2013. The total number of tourists increased 4% compared to October of the previous year.

In October 2013, compared to October of the previous year, the number of foreign tourists in accommodation establishments increased 3%. Two-thirds of accommodated foreign tourists arrived in Estonia for holidays, about a quarter were on a business trip and the rest had some other reason for visiting Estonia. Compared to October of the previous year, the share of tourists on a business trip increased two percentage points. Significantly more conference tourists stayed in accommodation establishments than in October of the last couple of years. For more than 8,500 foreign tourists using the services of accommodation establishments, the purpose of the trip was participating in a conference, training or congress. 76% of foreign tourists stayed in the accommodation establishments of Tallinn, 6% in Pärnu and 5% in Tartu. The largest share of conference tourists used the services of accommodation establishments in Tallinn.
In October, 6% more domestic tourists stayed in accommodation establishments than in the same month of the previous year. More than a half of Estonian residents using the services of accommodation establishments were on a holiday and one-third on a business trip. The tourists preferred Tallinn as a destination, and 19% of domestic tourists using the services of accommodation establishments stayed there. Compared to October 2012, the share of accommodation establishments of Tallinn in accommodating domestic tourists did not change. The number of domestic conference tourists using the services of accommodation establishments of Tallinn decreased by 6%.
In October, 913 accommodation establishments offered services for tourists. 19,000 rooms and 42,000 beds were available for tourists. The room occupancy rate was 43% and the bed occupancy rate was 34%. In Tallinn, the room occupancy rate and the bed occupancy rate were higher than the Estonian average.
The average cost of a guest night was 33 euros, which is two euros more than in October of the previous year. The average cost of a guest night was 38 euros in Tallinn.
