On November 15th, AS Postimees principal editor-in-chief Anvar Samost steps down from his post by agreement of the parties.

The reason for leaving is conflicting visions of Mr Samost and council of the enterprise regarding development of the organisation.

According to Mr Samost, he is pleased with the developments at Postimees, up to now. «Postimees is Estonia’s most influential newspaper, with an excellent audience and journalists,» said he. «I am pleased that over the two years, in spite of difficult times, we have taken strides forward.»

Postimees’ chairman Mart Kadastik said Anvar Samost has led Postimees diligently and with great dedication.

«Postimees has reinforced its position as opinion leader in Estonia, an engine of public discussions,» said Mr Kadastik. «Postimees will continue valuing quality journalism and forceful development of digital media.»

AS Postimees’ new manager and executive editor-in-chief will be Mart Luik (42), currently employed as CEO of Ajakirjade Kirjastus (publisher of multiple magazines).

Earlier. Mr Luik has managed economy desk at the daily Eesti Päevaleht, served as editor-in-chief of Sõnumileht and news at TV3,  as well as CEO of Viasat TV channels in Estonia (TV3), Russia and Slovenia. Mart Luik holds journalism diploma from University of Tartu. He is married, and a father of four.
