Ministry of Defence next year investments will amount to €43.26m. Among other things, the ministry will initiate procurement for self-propelled guns and combat machines. The largest project launched will be building of five arracks: by year’s end, four barracks will be completed in Võru, Jõhvi and Ämari, plus another building renovated in Tallinn Mine Harbour (Miinisadam).

Thereby, 1,440 additional barrack places are created. Next year, the second Thales Raytheon Ground Master 403 type radar will reach Estonia, to be based at Otepää. Also, the sixth dispatch of Sisu XA-188 armoured personnel carriers will arrive from Holland. Multiple projects will be initiated, by the ministry, for the procurement of combat machines, self-propelled guns and anti-tank systems. Plans prescribe turning 1st Infantry Brigade into a mechanised unit armed with combat machines, armoured transport vehicles and self-propelled guns.
