Court takes into custody suspect of grenade explosion in Tallinn

The Harju County Court on Thursday took into custody the man suspected of throwing a grenade into a kitchen in the Lasnamae district of Tallinn and injuring three people in the course.

The North district prosecutor's office applied for the suspect to be taken into custody and the court agreed.

The national security police on Tuesday evening detained the 50-year-old suspect in Harju County and the man didn't resist the arrest.

On the night of Sept. 6 a 50-year-old man threw a grenade into a kitchen at Paekaare Street 40 in the course of a conflict. The three people that were in the kitchen at the moment were injured. The victims were two women born in 1966 and 1968 and a man born in 1964.

According to the prosecutor's office it wasn't a domestic conflict but a disagreement between acquaintances.

The suspect has a previous criminal penalty for illegal handling of a firearm.

The national security police have started criminal proceedings on the grounds of the characteristics of an attempted murder. The investigation is led by the North district prosecutor's office.
