Tallink's August passenger numbers remain on same level on year

The listed Estonian shipper AS Tallink Grupp carried 930,346 passengers in August, marking an increase of 0.1 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.

The number of passenger vehicles carried during the month grew slightly to 122,618. The number of trucks and trailers meanwhile increased by almost 9 percent to 25,261 units in the same comparison, Tallink told the stock exchange.

Tallink's most popular route is between Estonia and Finland -- in August 460,810 passengers traveled between the two countries which is 4.6 percent less than a year ago.

In January the cruise ferry Baltic Princess replaced the cruise ferry Silja Europa on the Turku-Stockholm route while in the same month the cruise ferry Silja Europa replaced the cruise ferry Baltic Princess on the Tallinn-Helsinki route. In May the cruise ferry Isabelle replaced the cruise ferry Silja Festival on the Riga Stockholm route.
