In all 15 people lost their lives as a result of drowning in Estonia in August, compared with 10 in July and seven in August 2012.

Previously this year the number of drowning accidents was the highest in July at 10, it appears from figures provided by the Rescue Board. Seven people drowned in May, five in June, two in January and February each, and one in March and April each.
In the first eight months of this year the number of downing victims was 43, nine more than in the same period in 2012.
