Estonian govt rewards successful athletes

The Estonian government decided on Thursday to allocate to the Ministry of Culture 134,217 euros from its contingency reserve to reward the athletes who performed well at recent championships and their coaches.

Julia Beljajeva who won individual gold in women's epee at the 2013 Fencing World Championships in Budapest will get 38,348 euros and her coach Natalja Kotova 19,174 euros, spokespeople for the government said. Awards of the same size go to the world champion in men's epee, Nikolai Novosjolov, and his coach Igor Tsikinjov.

Discus thrower Gerd Kanter who won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Athletics in Moscow was awarded 12,782 euros and his coach Indrek Tustit 6,391 euros.
