Number of rail passengers drops by 4,000 y-o-y

In July 356,000 passengers traveled by train in Estonia, 4,000 fewer than in the same month a year ago, it appears from figures released by Statistics Estonia on Thursday.

Passengers carried in the first seven months of the year numbered 2.3 million, compared with 2.6 million in the first seven months of 2012.

Freight shipped by rail totaled 2.3 million tons in both July 2013 and July 2012. Shipments in the seven months grew 1.1 percent year on year to 26.8 tons.
