The mayor of the Estonian capital received the decoration for advancing the construction of a new Orthodox church in Tallinn's Lasnamae district.
In the subsequent conversation the patriarch thanked Savisaar once again for the warm welcome he received during his June visit to Estonia, the municipal press service said.
Russian conductor Valery Gergiev also received the same order on Wednesday.
Savisaar who has been on a visit to Moscow since Tuesday will return to Tallinn on Wednesday night.
