Savisaar alone running for Estonian Center Party top post

Edgar Savisaar, founder and long-standing chairman of the Center Party, is the only candidate for chairman of the party for the election to be held at the party's congress on Sept. 7.

Ahead of the 14the congress of the largest Estonian opposition party, Edgar Savisaar was nominated as candidate for party leader by all regional chapters, the youth caucus, the senior caucus, the women's caucus, the culture caucus and a number of other chapters.

Candidates for the 14 seats on the Center Party's governing board number 36.

The candidates for board membership are MP Mailis Reps, MP and deputy chairman of the party Kadri Simson, MP and deputy chairman of the party Enn Eesmaa, deputy speaker of the parliament Juri Ratas, MP Kalev Kallo, MP Aivar Riisalu, deputy mayor of Tallinn Taavi Aas, MP Priit Toobal, MP Aadu Must, MP Marika Tuus-Laul, MP Ester Tuiksoo, deputy chair of the party's governing board Siret Kotka, Central Tallinn borough governor Mihhail Korb, deputy mayor of Sillamae Eevi Paasmae, chairman of the council of Haapsalu Jaanus Karilad, Tallinn council member Enno Tamm, governor of Tallinn's Lasnamae borough Olga Ivanova, governor of Tallinn's Haabersti borough Marek Jurgenson, deputy governor of Tallinn's Lasnamae borough Jaanus Riibe, the party's press secretary Taavi Pukk, Tallinn council member Rein Ratas, deputy mayor of Tallinn Arvo Sarapuu, lawyer Ando Leps, physician Peeter Mardna, Tallinn municipal services department lead specialist Arvo Kaard, chairman of the Viljandi County chapter Helmut Hallemaa, MP Vladimir Velman, chairman of the senior caucus Elmar-Johannes Truu, MP Viktor Vassiljev, MP Yana Toom, Tallinn council member Mart Sults, MP Olga Sotnik, deputy mayor of Tallinn Mihhail Kolvart, mayor of Loksa Varner Lootsmann, chairman of the council of Keila Ago Kokser and businessman Vladimir Arhipov.

The congress of the Center Party will take place at the Song Festival Ground in Tallinn on Sept. 7.
