Tallink's July passenger numbers down 4 pct

The listed Estonian shipper AS Tallink Grupp carried 1.1 million passengers in July, marking a decrease of almost 4 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.

The number of passenger vehicles carried during the month declined slightly to 155,856. The number of trucks and trailers meanwhile increased by almost 9 percent to 23,276 units in the same comparison, Tallink told the stock exchange.

Tallink carried respectively 363,958 and 109,389 passengers on the Finland-Sweden and Estonia-Sweden routes, marking reductions of respectively 11.1 percent and 5.9 percent compared with July 2012.

On the route between Estonia and Finland the number of passengers grew 1.4 percent to 559,727 and on the route between Latvia and Sweden it was up 3.2 percent at 90,382.
