Apartments in Estonian capital one fifth more expensive than in July 2012

The average price per square meter of apartments in the capital Tallinn that changed hands in July was 1,297 euros, which marks an increase of 19.3 percent over July 2012, it appears from statistics of the Estonian Land Board.

Transactions with Tallinn apartments numbered 519, 11.3 percent fewer than in the same month of the previous year.

The average floor area of the apartments that changed hands was 52.9 square meters and the total value of the transactions was 37.4 million euros.

Compared to June, the number of transactions with Tallinn apartments declined by 7.5 percent and the average price per square meter rose 7.8 percent. The aggregate value of the transactions dropped by 1 percent.

Outside the capital city 717 transactions with apartments were concluded in July, 4.8 percent fewer than the year before. The average price per square meter jumped 19.3 percent in annual comparison, reaching 554 euros. The average size of the apartments that changed hands was 51.8 square meters and the total value of the transactions was 22.2 million euros.

Month on month, the number of apartment transactions outside Tallinn fell 5.3 percent and the average price per square meter was 6.7 percent lower. The overall value of such transactions declined by 11.3 percent.
