SIA Merks, a subsidiary of the listed Estonian construction group Merko Ehitus, and the city government of Liepaja, Latvia signed on Thursday a contract for the construction of a multifunctional center in the Latvian city.

The value of the contract is 28.3 million euros.
Under the contract SIA Merks will build a multifunctional center with eight aboveground and two underground floors with a gross area totaling 16,500 square meters.
The building will house an acoustic concert hall seating 1,000 and other rooms for various cultural events, Merko Ehitus told the stock exchange.
The completion deadline for the Lielais Dzintars center is July 2015.
