In the second quarter of this year 182 gigawatt-hours of electric energy moved from Estonia to Finland via the undersea cable Estlink, 130 percent more than during the same period of the previous year.

The use of the Estlink cable declined by 7 percent year-on-year, with 458 GWh of electricity altogether passing through the cable during the three months, board member of Nordic Energy Link Gunnar Virk said. In the first quarter the Estlink cable carried 462 GWh of electricity.
In the first half of 2013 Estlink was out of service owing to failures twice for a total of five hours. A year earlier four disruptions lasting 63 hours in all occurred.
Planned disruptions numbered two and lasted 243 hours. In the first half of 2012 there were four planned disruptions with a total duration of 96 hours.
