The use of automated parcel terminals of Estonia's postal company Eesti Post has grown 2.5-fold since the beginning of the year, far outstripping the general market growth.

It is especially evident in summer that people prefer parcel terminals which are always open because they can pick up their parcels regardless of the time of day, head of Eesti Post's logistics division Ansi Arumeel said.

«The growth in parcel traffic has surpassed expectations and the reason for this is that more and more people in Estonia are buying goods from online shops and choose always open parcel terminals for the point of delivery,» Arumeel said.

Starting from March, parcels can be sent from Estonia to automated terminals in Latvia and Lithuania. «Parcel delivery volumes between the Baltic states are showing a solid upward trend,» Arumeel observed.

The terminal network of Eesti Post expanded by eight new units and locations in April and May. The company plans to expand the network further in the future.

Eesti Post has 122 terminals across the Baltic region that can be used to send and receive both domestic and Baltic parcel mail.
