The minister of economic affairs and communications, Juhan Parts, on Tuesday recalled Erkki Raasuke from the supervisory board of the flagship carrier Estonian Air and appointed in his stead Jaan Tamm, CEO of the holding company Infortar associated with the listed shipper Tallink Grupp.

Raasuke, who until now chaired the supervisory board, will continue as a counselor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, a ministry spokesperson said.

Tamm exercises owner supervision in several other companies on behalf of Infortar. He previously worked for 10 years as head of the electronic banking division and the e-technology and operations division at SEB Pank.

«The appointment of Jaan Tamm to the supervisory board of Estonian Air indicates progress in the priorities of owner supervision - we have moved on from the company's financial rehabilitation to the next phase where we need to develop a profit-making national airline,» Parts said in a press release.

«I would like to thank Erkki Raasuke for his work as chairman of Estonian Air's supervisory board during what may have been the most difficult stage for the company. The readjustment of the board is in compliance with an earlier plan because Raasuke's job description did not call for hands-on work on a state-owned company's board,» Parts said.

Raasuke became chairman of Estonian Air's supervisory board after the previous chairman, the entrepreneur Joakim Helenius, was removed.
