In the first five months of the year 220,961 passengers including 218,045 on regular flights flew Estonia's flagship carrier Estonian Air.

In May Estonian Air carried 52,755 passengers of whom 52,284 were on regular flights, the company said.

This year passenger volumes have declined approximately by the same figure as the amount of attracted transit passengers in 2012, said Rauno Parras, the CCO of Estonian Air. "We use 2011 – the year before expansion – as a reference to compare the results," he observed.

In 2011 Estonian Air flew to 19 destinations from Tallinn and four from Vilnius. In 2013, ten year-round and two seasonal destinations are operated from Tallinn. In May 2011 the airline carried 70,781 passengers, out of which 10,080 on charter flights. All told, 61,513 passengers flew from Tallinn and 9,268 from Vilnius.

In the first five months of 2012 Estonian Air carried 323,265 passengers including 98,464 in May.

"The number of seats we offered in May was 45.5 percent smaller than in 2012 and 23 percent smaller than in 2011," Parras explained. "Thus we are doing considerably better in filling our aircraft. Last month the load factor was above 70 percent."

Estonian Air operated 4,734 flights from January to May of which 934 flights fell into May.

The airline flies to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels, Oslo, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Vilnius and Trondheim. In addition, from June to August, Estonian Air flies between Tallinn and Paris, and from May to September to Nice.
