Ekspress Grupp is for the time being not considering acquisition of a stake in the Lithuanian media group Lietuvos Rytas, CEO of the Estonian media holding Gunnar Kobin told BNS on Friday.

Hans H. Luik, a  major shareholder in Ekspress Grupp, told BNS earlier that the company has obtained from the bankruptcy administrator of the collapsed Lithuanian bank Snoras documents of the auction at which a 34 percent holding in Lietuvos Rytas is to be sold, but had no comment to offer on the group's further plans.

"We obtained that package from the bankruptcy administrator," Luik said. Asked whether Ekspress Grupp intends to buy the stake, he replied: "I can't say."

Citing anonymous sources, the Lithuanian portal eversus.lt has said that Luik might be interested in acquiring 34 percent of the Lithuanian media group.

Before Ekspress Grupp bought the news portal Delfi operating in all the three Baltic states, Luik repeatedly said at meetings with investors that he wanted to acquire Lietuvos Rytas, sources told eversus.lt.

Snoras went bankrupt in November 2011. Its leasing arm Snoro Lizingas was the first major asset of the bank to be sold in May this year. The bankruptcy administrator plans to sell next Finasta bank and a 34 percent holding in Lietuvos Rytas.
