Baltic Breakdance Battle treats Tallinn with global greats

This Saturday, at 8 pm, Tallinn National Library of Estonia will host Red Bull BC One Baltic Cypher. Already, close to a hundred breakers have registered to the event. On Saturday, live video coverage of the event is offered by Postimees.ee.

Qualifications of the world’s most prestigious breakdance festival come to Estonia.

Red Bull BC One Baltic Cypher comes to Estonia for the very first time. The last year but one, the competition was held in Latvia, Lithuania being the host in 2012. Now, it is the turn of the third Baltic State to gather the b-boys together.

Last year, the prize went to Marek Vetik (Estonia), who will now be defending the title, facing Latvians and Lithuanians (check out Marek Vetik’s introductory video here).

Baltic qualifications winner travels to Ukraine, for the next round – fighting for access to finals in Soul, South Korea. Anybody is welcome to participate – provided it’s easy for him/her to spin on the head and stand on one hand.

This year, Red Bull BC One is celebrating its 10th jubilee – so the event gearing up to be intense and incredible.

On Friday, the three referees will be arriving in Tallinn: El Niño, Bboy OK and Lil Amok.

The chief referee Alex Diaz alias El Niño is a breaker from the on Dominican Republic, who started to amaze fans at the early age of three. At 6 years of age, El Niño joined the legendary The Floor Lords, afterwards starring in various TV programmes, movies and theatre shows. In 2009, El Niño became the youngest ever breaker to receive the Spy Award – a top recognition of the world of breakdance. He was proclaimed world’s No 1 Breaker in 2011; by now, the man is a rising star, winning and judging breakdance contests the world over. For a closer look, click here.

B-boys will be gathering in Club Hollywood at 2 pm on June 8th, to qualify for 16 top spots and continue in the finals, at night in the library. The finals will come in 1-1 system – till the best performer stands alone.
