President Toomas Hendrik Ilves has summoned chairs of parliamentary parties to his Kadriorg residence on Friday to discuss the domestic policy situation in Estonia.

"The situation is extremely worrying and this is a question of the credibility of Estonia's party democracy," the president said on Facebook.

A story in the weekly Eesti Ekspress last week triggered the scandal of voting fraud in internal leadership elections of the ruling Reform Party in the course of which the leader of the party, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, and MEP Kristiina Ojuland, member of Reform's governing board, have accused one another of lying.

The Reform Party's court of honor that is scheduled to gather on Tuesday to discuss the case may propose to the party board to expel Ojuland and the governor of the West-Viru County, Einar Vallbaum, who also is implicated in the voting scandal, from the party.
