2,003 new cars registered in May

The number of passenger cars registered in the Estonian motor vehicle register in May for the first time was 4,889, of which 2,003 or 41 percent were brand new.

The share of brand new cars in the total number of first-time registrations was on a par with May 2012.

During May 2012, 4,727 passenger cars were entered into the register for the first time and 1,942 of them were brand new. In April 2013 the corresponding figures were 4,807 and 1,936.

The most popular car in May was Honda CR-V with 86 new units registered during the month. Honda Civic and Toyota Avensis followed at 76 units each, Skoda Octavia was in fourth place with 65 units and Toyota RAV4 fifth with 62.

The list of manufacturers was topped by Toyota with 262 new cars registered, Volkswagen being second with 184 and Honda third with 183 units.

Of the 690 trucks registered in Estonia for the first time in May 367 were brand new. The number of buses registered was 25, including 10 brand new units. The number of motorcycles in first-time registration was 383, of which 137 were brand new, and the respective numbers for tractors were 130 and 112.
