Number of rooms in Estonian accommodation facilities grows 1.6 pct on year

The total number of rooms in the accommodation establishments of Estonia was 22,106 last year, marking an increase by 1.6 percent over 2011, Statistics Estonia said on Tuesday.

In the capital Tallinn the number increased 0.1 percent to 14,721.

The number of beds in accommodation establishments across Estonia increased 2.9 percent during the same period to 52,979. In Tallinn the number was 14,721, 0.2 percent bigger than a year ago.

The average room occupancy rate for accommodation establishments of all of Estonia went up to 45.2 percent from 44.6 percent in 2011. In Tallinn it improved marginally from 61.6 percent to 61.7 percent

The number of accommodated guests grew 4.2 percent year on year to 2.84 million and the number of nights spent by the guests went up 2.7 percent to 5.54 million. In Tallinn the number of accommodated guests was bigger by 1.8 percent at 1.52 million while the number of nights stayed declined 0.5 percent to 2.76 million.
