In Finland, police confiscated 20 driving licences from luxury car rally Gumball 3000 competitors. Estonian police’s current catch is nine offenders.

Jelena Filippova, press representative of Police and Border Guard Board (PBGB) Eastern Prefecture told Postimees that, at the moment, four offences of traffic rules have been detected in Ida-Viru County by Gumball-people – all having to do with speeding.

One offence was recorded in Narva, three around Jõhvi. Speeding has been recorded by police of up to 163 km/h.

PBGB spokeswoman Tuuli Härson said that in Northern Prefecture, on Narva Road, five people have been caught speeding, in the worst case – so far – by 40 km/h over the limit.

In Finland, speeds of up to 205 km/h were achieved. Losing the licences will, however, not jeopardise the journey, as replacement drivers grab the wheels.

The seven days long rally, covering 13 countries and 5,000 kilometres, kicked off in Copenhagen, on May 19th. From Helsinki, the cars roll along towards Riga, also passing Tallinn. The rally finishes in Monaco, the supercars arriving there by F1 GP.

The cars, arriving along St Petersburg Road, some from Finland by boat, started entering Town Hall Square, via Kullassepa St at noon, showed off for a few hours. Thereafter, along the Pärnu Road, they head off for the Ikla border point and then on to Riga, Latvia.
