1,936 new cars registered in April

The number of passenger cars registered in the Estonian motor vehicle register in April for the first time was 4,807, of which 1,936 or 40 percent were brand new.

The share of brand new cars in the total number of first-time registrations was on a par with April 2012.

During April 2012, 4,376 passenger cars were entered into the register for the first time and 1,765 of them were brand new. In March 2013 the corresponding figures were 3,878 and 1,630.

The most popular cars in April were Honda Civic and Kia Sportage with 87 new units of each registered during the month. Honda CR-V was in third place with 75 new units registered, Toyota Avensis fourth with 74 and Volkswagen Golf fifth with 63 units.

The list of manufacturers was topped by Toyota with 245 new cars registered, Volkswagen being second wit 216 and Honda third with 190.

Of the 660 trucks registered in Estonia for the first time in April 304 were brand new. The number of buses registered was 32, including eight brand new units. The number of motorcycles in first-time registration was 401, of which 146 were brand new. Tractors numbered 130 overall and brand new tractors made up 110 of them.
