State examinations are underway at schools, the first being Estonian as a foreign language in schools with Russian as language of instruction.
Russian school 12th grader wants «as far from Estonia as possible – USA or Australia»
Postimees in Russian dispatched a reporter to Linnamäe Russian lyceum, to find out about the 12th graders’ impressions and plans for the future.
«To be honest, the exam didn’t feel too hard. I only doubt in the answers of the first listening task. But otherwise, all felt familiar and easy, I’m hoping for a good result,» said Ksenia D. from 12B class.
Ksenia said she wanted to get a higher education in Estonia, but then leave for abroad. «I’m still thinking which university to enter. Talking about specialties, I’d like to go to Tallinn University of Technology, to study international relations. Alas, it’s only paid studies there, and only in English. Picking from free of charge options, I’d go for English philology in Tallinn University. After Bachelor’s degree, I want to continue my studies abroad. Or else I’ll do the Master’s here, leaving after that,» added the girl.
Ksenia said there were many reasons she didn’t want to live in Estonia. «Firstly, I have already realised it is very difficult to find work in Estonia. Secondly, there are some personal issues. For instance, I don’t like the climate at all. I want as far from Estonia as possible – US or Australia. Australia, especially, for I know some people there. I like the climate there and the Australians’ mentality,» she added.
