1,630 new cars entered in register in March

In March 3,878 passenger cars were for the first time entered in the Estonian motor vehicle register, of which 1,630 or 42 percent were brand new.

The share of new cars in first registrations was 3 percent bigger than in the same month of the previous year. In March 2012 passenger cars registered for the first time in Estonia numbered 4,331 including 1,684 new ones. In February this year the respective figures were 3,335 and 1,364.

The most popular new car model in March was Honda CR-V with 85 units registered, followed by Nissan Qashqai with 70 entries and Honda Civic with 69 entries. Toyota Avensis (55) and Kia Sportage (49) rounded out the top five.

Of  makes Toyota topped the list with 182 new passenger cars registered. Next came Honda with 179 and Nissan with 134 first registrations.

In addition 593 trucks, including 260 new ones, and 60 buses of which 50 were brand new were entered for the first time in the Estonian register in March. Of motorcycles 176 units, including 77 new ones, and of tractors 83 units, of them 71 brand new, were registered for the first time.
