The Russian authorities have apprehended in St. Petersburg a drug courier from Estonia in whose car 80 kilograms of hashish was found, Russian news agency Interfax reports.

The Dodge Journey with Estonian license plates was pulled over by traffic cops and drug control officers because police had information that the vehicle had been equipped with hiding places for smuggling.

The inspection of the vehicle revealed hidden compartments in door sills which contained 145 hashish bricks with a total weight of almost 80 kilograms.

The Interfax report is not clear about when the drug courier was detained.

According to the police, the narcotic was of Moroccan origin which is usually obtained in the Netherlands.
