Ilves tweets: Estonia awaits Russia’s apology for deportations

Today, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves write via Twitter that Estonia expects Russia to apologise for March Deportations.

«Today, 64 years back, NKVD forcefully separated over 20,000 Estonians from their homes, deporting them to Siberia, in cattle wagons. No-one has apologised,» Mr Ilves just wrote in Twitter, in English.

«Estonia keeps waiting for an apology from those who claim to be legal successors of USSR, in other matters,» announced the President.

Today is 64 years from the day Soviet authorities sent over 20,000 Estonian people to Siberia.
