The consumer confidence indicator in Estonia in March was minus 5, on a par with February, it appears from the consumer barometer survey by the Estonian Institute of Economic Research (EKI).

A small increase took place in the percentage of households that expect their financial situation to improve somewhat over the next 12 months, as the ratio of such households climbed from 20 percent in February to 25 percent in March.

In the March survey, 46 percent of those surveyed believed that their household's financial situation will not change and 21 percent saw a deterioration ahead in the coming 12 months.

Expectations as regards the economic situation of Estonia did not change, with consumers remaining moderately optimistic, the institute said.

The confidence indicator of respondents belonging to the highest income group was 8, unchanged from February. In the lowest income group it was minus 17, marking an improvement on February.
