An Estonian court on Thursday slapped a suspended sentence on a woman who insulted a judge in an online comment.

The Tartu regional court handed down a four-month suspended jail sentence with three years' probation to Olga Murogina, 36. Murogina will also have to pay 480.45 euros in court costs.

On May 9, 2012 the Russian-language newssite rus.delfi.ee published an article about a criminal trial presided over by Harju regional court judge Merle Parts together with a photo of the judge. The story drew insulting comments one of which was posted on the same day by Murogina.

Under the Penal Code insulting a judge is punishable if it is connected with his/her administration of justice.

The Tartu regional court made a similar ruling last month, finding Andrey Nebenzya, 40, guilty of insulting Parts. Nebenzya was handed a five-month suspended sentence with 18 months' probation and ordered to pay 947 euros in procedure expenses in a plea bargain.
