At 9.30 am this morning, sporadic disturbances again started plaguing Swedbank’s main services and channels, requiring hours to be completely fixed.

Soon, the bank will restart its systems. While this is going on, all services may also be disturbed for many hours. «When all services have been restored, we will notify immediately,» said Swedbank press representative Mart Siilivask.

Problems are occurring with card payments, cash withdrawals and internet and mobile banking. The bank’s call centre is also experiencing problems – mainly due to large number of incoming calls.

The bank is actively looking into the reasons behind the disturbances and is doing its utmost to fix them. According to Tarmo Pajumets, Swedbank IT director in the Baltics, neither Friday’s nor today’s disturbances are caused by external factors, but rather a fault in bank’s IT-systems. «We are actively searching for the reasons. It concerns hardware, sadly [being] now repeated. In spite of great efforts over weekend, we still have some disturbances today,» commented Mr Pajumets. «Therefore, we have decided to restart the systems. During that, problems may occur for many hours.»

«We heartily apologise before our clients for these repeated disruptions. With possible claims for damages, please address the bank. We assure restitution of all proven damage related to disturbances in Swedbank’s work. Please file applications via Internet bank, call centre, or your manager at the bank,» said Swedbank.

On Friday at noon, Swedbank’s operations came to a halt all over Baltics.
