Estonian stock index rises to last five years' highest level

The index of the Tallinn stock exchange, OMXT, closed on Friday 1.04 percent higher at 820.11 points, its highest level since the end of 2007.

The turnover generated in 293 transactions totaled 1.1 million euros.

"The price of Tallink Grupp shares hit 1.04 euros for a while on Friday, trading in the stock was lively and block deals were concluded as well," trader for LHV Pank Ragnar Plees said in his comments to BNS.

Casino operator Olympic Entertainment Group produced a decent turnover, too, but the price of the stock appears to be stuck, the trader added.

Tallink Grupp climbed 2 percent to 1.02 euros a share in 124 trades with 666,163 euros in turnover.

Olympic Entertainment Group finished unchanged at 1.95 euros for the second day running after 61 transactions in which 215,952 euros' worth of shares changed hands.
