A book checked out 69 years ago has been returned to the Tallinn Central Library.

A man on Thursday brought back a tome of the Estonian author Eduard Vilde's works he had borrowed 69 years ago, the library said on Facebook.

"The 1928-born gentleman apologized for the delay, explaining it with the confusion caused by the March bombing," the library said.

March bombing refers to the March 9, 1944 Soviet air strike that destroyed a large part of the historic city center.
